DJI Osmo Pocket 3 vs Pocket 4 vs Pocket 4P: which one should you buy?

The short version

DJI launched the Osmo Pocket 4 in April 2026 and the dual-camera Osmo Pocket 4P in July, while the 2023 Osmo Pocket 3 is still widely stocked at clearance prices. All three share the same idea — a 1-inch-class sensor on a real three-axis gimbal, small enough to live in a pocket — so the choice comes down to storage, battery, zoom and price.

• Pocket 4 (₱28,990): the one most people should buy. It fixes the Pocket 3’s two biggest gripes (no storage, short battery) and adds 4K/240fps.
• Pocket 4P (₱37,790): the best camera of the three thanks to a second telephoto lens and a new stacked sensor. Only worth the extra ₱8,800 if you shoot subjects you cannot walk up to.
• Pocket 3 (clearance): still a very good camera. Buy it if the discount is deep; otherwise the Pocket 4 costs about the same as the Pocket 3 did new.

None of our three verdicts are based on hands-on testing. They come from DJI’s published specifications, launch coverage in the Philippines and reputable international reviews. Where buyers have had their say, you will find a separate summary below each camera.

Pocket 3 to Pocket 4: what changed

Less than you might think at the sensor, and more than you might think everywhere else. Both use a 1-inch CMOS sensor behind a 20mm f/2.0 lens, both have the rotating 2-inch OLED screen, both ride the same style of three-axis gimbal.

The Pocket 4’s upgrades are practical ones:

• 107 GB built-in storage. The Pocket 3 had none.
• Battery. 1545 mAh against 1300 mAh. DJI rates it at 240 minutes of 1080p/24 recording versus 166 — roughly 44% longer.
• Slow motion. 4K/240fps, double the Pocket 3’s 4K/120fps.
• Colour. A true 10-bit D-Log profile with a claimed 14 stops of dynamic range, alongside the D-Log M and HLG the Pocket 3 already offered.
• Stills. 37 MP photos.
• Tracking and focus. ActiveTrack 7.0 and all-pixel phase-detect autofocus.

The cost is about 5 mm of height and 11 g of weight. And the price went down: ₱28,990 for the Standard Combo in the Philippines, against roughly ₱30,000 for the Pocket 3 when it launched in 2023.

What the Pocket 4P adds

The 4P is a different tier rather than a Pocket 4 with extras. Its wide camera uses a 1-inch stacked sensor — faster readout, and the basis for DJI’s claim of 17 stops of dynamic range in the new D-Log 2 profile, up from 14 on the Pocket 4. Beside it is a 60mm f/1.8 telephoto on a 1/1.28-inch sensor, giving 3× optical zoom, 6× lossless and up to 12× hybrid zoom in video.

Around those two cameras: ActiveTrack 8.0 with multi-person subject priority, tracking that holds all the way to 12×, a 1000-nit screen, 103 GB of storage plus microSD to 1 TB, and fast charging that DJI says takes the 1545 mAh battery to 80% in about 18 minutes.

The trade-offs are weight and money. At 230 g it is 40 g heavier than the Pocket 4 and 51 g heavier than the Pocket 3, and the Standard Combo is ₱37,790 — ₱8,800 more than the Pocket 4. The Vlog Combo is ₱42,290.

Which one is right for you?

You mostly film yourself talking, or arm’s-length travel clips

Pocket 4. The wide camera is all you will use, the built-in storage means one less thing to forget, and the battery covers a full day of short clips. The 4P’s telephoto would sit idle.

You shoot events, kids, pets, street scenes or products

Pocket 4P. Being able to frame a subject from across a room — and have the gimbal keep tracking it at 12× — is the kind of thing you use constantly once you have it. The extra dynamic range helps in harsh Philippine midday light too.

You grade your footage

Pocket 4P if the budget allows; the stacked sensor and D-Log 2 are the bigger step up for colour work. The Pocket 4’s true D-Log is a solid second choice and a clear improvement on the Pocket 3’s D-Log M.

You are on a tight budget

Watch Pocket 3 prices. It is discontinued, so sellers are clearing stock. Below about ₱25,000 it is the best value pocket gimbal you can buy. Above that, the Pocket 4 is worth the difference for storage and battery alone. Do check the seller’s warranty terms on clearance units.

A note on prices and availability

The prices in this article are DJI’s Philippine launch prices. In practice you will usually pay less: Shopee and Lazada show voucher-discounted prices in their mobile apps that the desktop site does not, and all three cameras get cut further during payday sales and the 9.9, 10.10, 11.11 and 12.12 events. If you are not in a hurry, buying a Pocket 4 or 4P during one of those sales — in the app, with vouchers stacked — is the cheapest route by some margin. We do not quote sale prices because they change too quickly to verify.

All three launched officially in the Philippines through DJI’s local distributors, which matters for warranty. Note that neither the Pocket 4 nor the 4P had an official US launch as of this writing, so if you are comparing with US review coverage, expect some of it to be based on imported units.
